ICAN California Abilities Network

Volunteer: Scott Kramer

ICAN California Abilities Network's mission is to empower people with disabilities to discover and achieve their own "I CAN" statement by providing life skills training, supported employment, and social programming.

Scott Kramer began volunteering with ICAN in 2014 at ICAN’s summer camp where he supported ICAN's clients with fun outdoor activities like horseback riding, ziplining, swimming, sports, games, crafts, singing, and building friendships. Scott continues to volunteer for the annual summer camps, but has also become a regular volunteer in the Social Program. As a volunteer in this program, Scott helps clients develop social networks and friendships, and create shared experiences which are essential for building a community, developing a sense of belonging, and key to meeting the social-emotional needs of ICAN's clients. Scott builds genuine relationships with other volunteers, staff, and clients that help make every event and program he is involved in a fun and positive experience. Scott has shown a level of dedication that is seldom matched, and has furthered ICAN's mission and strengthened the volunteer program for the long-term.
