Education Through Music - Los Angeles
Volunteer: Francis Lansang
Education Through Music - Los Angeles (ETM-LA) partners with under-resourced schools to provide music as a core subject for all children and utilizes music education as a catalyst to improve academic achievement, motivation for school, and self-confidence.
Francis Lansang began volunteering with ETM-LA over 8 years ago when he volunteered in the clean-up crew following the annual gala and since then, he has never stopped "rolling up his sleeves." An actor and musician, art has always had an impact on Francis' life. Francis is a natural leader who is loved and respected by all; whether it be taking it upon himself to retrieve a child's retainer accidentally disposed in a concert venue's dumpster or waiting with a stranded music teacher in Hollywood who locked their keys in their car - no act of service is too small. His contributions have strengthened ETM-LA's work internally and advocacy externally through recruiting and training new volunteers and members, offering program and event support, and regularly engaging with students and families. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Francis took on the role of an unpaid Volunteer Coordinator, further deepening the impact and value of volunteers at ETM-LA. Through this, Francis has furthered ETM-LA's mission and strengthened the volunteer program for the long-term.
